Air Freight

Speed when it's needed. Personal service when it counts.

At Eurodelta, we understand that air freight is often time-critical. A delayed delivery can directly impact your production, stock, or customer. That's why we provide an air freight solution that is not only fast but, above all, reliable, well-organised, and tailored to your schedule.

From express shipments and urgent cargo to regular air freight, we manage the entire process. We advise on the most suitable routing, airline, and service, organise pre- and post-carriage, and handle the necessary documentation and customs formalities.

Whether it's a single urgent shipment or a structural air freight flow, we ensure your goods arrive quickly and under control at the correct destination. At the same time, communication lines remain short: at Eurodelta, you have a dedicated contact person who knows your shipment and actively follows up.

Your shipment is urgent. We ensure everything surrounding it is well-arranged.

How we work

In advance, we map out the route, planning, and conditions. After booking, you will receive up-to-date information on the progress. We monitor deviations and contact you when action or a decision is required.

Even in the event of delays, changes, or capacity issues, a dedicated team remains responsible for your shipment.

Frequently Asked Questions about
Air Freight

What is the difference between PAX and CAO?

In air freight, a distinction is made between PAX (Passenger Aircraft) and CAO (Cargo Aircraft Only).

PAX refers to cargo transported in a regular passenger aircraft. This means the available cargo space and maximum dimensions are more limited, but there is often a high frequency of flights.

CAO refers to a full cargo aircraft. This provides more space for large, heavy, or unusual shipments. Furthermore, certain goods, including some dangerous goods, are only permitted on CAO flights.

What dimensions and weights are permitted for air freight?

There is no universal maximum dimension for air freight. The possibilities depend on the aircraft type, available ULDs, loading door, and specific route.

PAX vs. CAO – practically explained

PAX (Passenger Aircraft)
Aircraft type: Passenger aircraft with cargo in belly
Typical maximum height: ± 160 cm for widebody
Typical width:
Depending on aircraft/ULD, often ± 200–240 cm
Large/unusual shipments: Limited
Suitable for: Standard pallets, boxes, regular cargo

CAO (Cargo Aircraft Only)
Aircraft type: Full cargo aircraft
Typical maximum height: Often 250–300+ cm
Typical width:
Often 250–340 cm+
Large/unusual shipments: Many more possibilities
Suitable for: Oversized, heavy, and voluminous cargo

How is air freight weight calculated?

For air freight, both the actual weight and the volumetric weight are usually considered. The carrier then charges based on the chargeable weight according to the applicable tariff rules.

A shipment of, for example, 2,000 kg may therefore have a higher chargeable weight based on its volume. That is why both weight and exact dimensions are important for an accurate air freight quote.

The volumetric weight is calculated using the following formula:
Length (cm) × width (cm) × height (cm) × number of packages ÷ 6,000 = volumetric weight in kg
